Methodology
The figures come from public customer reviews collected by CustomerEye. The index names industries, never individual companies.
An industry appears in a month only when it has at least 1,000 reviews and at least 50 companies in that month. We chose this floor by measurement: a 200-review floor produced an average rank movement of 6.5 places a month, with a worst case of 25 places. At the chosen floor the average is 4.6 places and the worst case 17.
The positive rate is weighted by review volume. It is the share of all the industry's reviews that are positive, not a plain average of each company's rate.
A month is published only once our collection of it has reached at least 90 percent of the average volume of the three months before it. That is why the most recent calendar month is usually not the most recent published month. Once published, a month's figures and ranks are frozen and do not change.
Months published before the index began running live were computed from the catalogue as it stands now, rather than as it stood at the time, so their company set is today's. The comparison between those months is still consistent, because they were all computed the same way.
